Vladimir Ilyukhin stressed the need for a uniform standard of care throughout the far East, in his report about the status and prospects of development of health care in the Kamchatka region.

Building of special medical centres to develop sanitary aviation and attract specialists, creating all necessary conditions for them — with such proposals spoke Governor of the Kamchatka region Vladimir Ilyukhin, at a joint meeting of Ministry Collegium of the Russian Federation on the development of the far East and the Council under the RF President Plenipotentiary in the Far East.

The Governor of the Kamchatka region noted that construction of the first 4 similar items in Olutorskiy region are scheduled to begin next year. Subsequently, there will be 14 settlements.

"Such model projects might be the best solution to the problem of construction of medical centers facilities in sparsely populated areas to the far East,"- said Vladimir Ilyukhin.

Also there is an acute problem of air ambulance flights. In the North, where there is often no ground communication between towns, air ambulance operates virtually as an ambulance. There were rescued more than 300 people just last year in Kamchatka.

According to Vladimir Ilyukhin’s opinion, far eastern regions must find common solutions and to ensure that people of the Far East could solve their health problems without going beyond the Far East.

Vladimir Ilyukhin also noted that more physicians are going to the peninsula. Thanks to additional support measures, during the past three years almost 170 specialists came to work to Kamchatka.
