The summary of tourism season of 2016 was made in Kronotsky Nature Reserve on the International Tourism Day
In comparison to the previous year the number of visitors to Kronotsky Nature Reserve and the South Kamchatka Sanctuary has grown for 2100 and made up to 9800 people.

"We fulfil the strategy declared in the whole world: the nature should be protected for people and with the help of people, - said the Head of Kronotsky Nature Reserve Tihon Shpilenok. - "Improving infrastructure and logistics we are preparing for changes as a result of Kamchatka developing as the routist region. We make it in order to more people will be able to visit reserve territories and the nature will save its primordial state."

"This year the "Brown Bear School" has been reopened for the South Kamchatka Sanctuary visitors. Under the quidance of specialists guests learnt about specific behavior of the biggest Kamchatka predators, kept a lookout for bears at reserve pathes," - said the Deputy of Ecological Education and Tourism in Kronotsky Nature Reserve Rinat Faiyzulin.

Figures and Facts

5871 people visited Kronotsky Nature Reserve in 2016-season, 1282 of them were foreigners.

3927 people visited the South Kamchatka Sanctuary, 1188 of them were foreigners.

The most popular tours in Kronotsky Nature Reserve are the Valley of Gaysers and Uzon Volcano Caldera, in the South Kamchatka Sanctuary it is Kuril Lake. There is a growing interest in other unique nature sights: Kronotsky Lake and Reserve Waters of Pacific Ocean. Phototours to Kambalnoe Lake are also gaining an interest.

The World Tourism Day is an international holiday established by the UNWTO General Assemble in 1979. It is celebrated on September, 27.
