275 anniversary of the Commandor Islands was celebrated in Kamchatka
275 anniversary of discovering the Commandor Islands and 190 anniversary of Nikolskoye village were celebrated in Aleutsky District of Kamchatka Krai (near to the Commandor Islands). The Governor Vladimir Iluhin congratulated local residents with double-anniversary.

"There is no doubt that discovering the Commandor Islands can be put in the same row with the other great geographical discoverings. This is unique and importamt territory for Russia. Tourists from different countries come here to see the nature reserve of the islands," - said Vladimir Iluhin.

Descendents of the famous seamen who discovered and explored the Commandor Islands were the guests of the holiday. They are descendent of Vitus Bering - Ioahim Roof from Denmark and Mihail Chirikov - descendent of the famous Russian traveller Aleksei Chirikov. The holiday was attended by the ambassador of Denmark in Moscow Thomas Winkler, Danish and Kamchatka scientists, workers in culture.

"Vitus Bering is the symbol of long standing friendship between Russia and Denmark in the past and present time, " - said Thomas Winkler.

Within the celebration there was an unveiling a memorial for Vitus Bering. There was also a concert of the best Kamchatka artists.
