Fast Internet in Kamchatka soon
Cable laying vessel "Cable Innovator" left the port of Vladivostok on May 29th. The ship is moving to Kamchatka to lay underwater fiber-optic cable for communication lines along the bottom of the Sea of Okhotsk.

The vessel is to reach Kamchatka on June 4th. Kamchatka peninsula is technically ready to start construction of telecommunication infrastructure. Landline communication cable is underwater, 4 km from the Ust-Bolsheretsk district. "Cable Innovator" will install connecting tube between underwater and land-based lines. Then the vessel will start to lay fiber-optic cable from Kamchatka to Sakhalin.

Construction of the line is scheduled for completion by September 2016. The length of the line will be more than 900 km, with a bandwidth 400 GB/s (possible up to 8 TB/s). Rostelecom's partner for laying the underwater cable is China's Huawei.

The line is expected to be put into operation in the first quarter of 2017.
