Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky cancelled school classes because of a snowfall and storm, the city administration told Itar-Tass on Thursday.

Local weather bureau reported that the south of the Kamchatka peninsula was under the influence of a cyclone which had come from the Sea of Okhotsk a night earlier. The bureau fixed rushes of 34 metres per second.

In the city the wind speed reached 16 mps. The snowfall limited visibility to 500 metres.

Weather specialists forecast the conditions will be getting worse. A mighty cyclone, which emerged near Japan, will reach Kamchatka at night of January 13. It will bring big precipitation and stormy wind.

The peak of the storm is expected in southern regions on January 13 and 14. After that, the weather will start improving gradually, the specialists said.
